Gattara is a competitive cat card game where players collect, protect, lose and steal precious cat tokens. Every round is quick, interactive and full of timing decisions.
If you enjoy cat-themed card games, direct player interaction and quick matches that are easy to teach, Gattara was made for you. It is built for cat lovers, families, couples and game nights that need something fast, funny and memorable.
Gattara is designed for players who want a quick card game with interaction, personality and enough chaos to keep every round exciting.
In Gattara, players use red, green and yellow cards to build and disrupt each other’s cat collections. Some cards help you gain cats, some make other players lose them, and some twist the flow of the round entirely.
Meow cards: are special reactions that can cancel an attack and double its effect onto someone else, turning a simple play into absolute chaos (chain reactions possible!).
The goal is not just to collect “the most tokens”. You race to reach the target score first, so every choice matters: play safe with low-value cats, or risk everything to grab the cats that make you a bigger target.
At the start of your turn, draw until you have at least 3 cards in hand.
Use green cards to gain or steal cats, red cards to make rivals lose cats, and yellow cards to change the flow of play.
Collect enough points in cat tokens before everyone else and become the one true Gattara.
The first player to reach the required score based on the number of players shouts "GATTARA" and wins!.
Target score by player count: 2 players: 10 points · 3 players: 8 points · 4+ players: 7 points.
Use different card types to shape the game and outplay your opponents. Every turn moves the table forward and creates new opportunities.
Gattara uses a multi-level cat token system, so choosing when to attack, protect or hold back becomes part of the strategy.
Gattara includes player screens so your cat tokens stay hidden from the table. This adds bluffing, surprise and better timing to every steal, defense and comeback.
Gattara combines quick turns, hidden information, sudden reversals and playful take-that interaction in a compact cat-themed card game.
From the artwork to the token system, Gattara is a cat card game made for people who cannot resist cats.
Meow reactions, steals and sudden reversals create memorable moments without slowing the game down.
“Fast setup, instant fun. Great energy at 4–6 players.”
“The hidden tokens and Meow reactions make every round feel alive.”
“Cute theme, but surprisingly tactical.”
Gattara is designed to be quick to set up, simple to carry and easy to teach. The box includes everything you need to start attracting cats right away.
Gattara is full of original feline characters, playful details and a world built around the joy of attracting cats.
With 10–20 minute matches, Gattara fits easily into weeknights, cafés, conventions and casual game sessions.
Its strong theme and memorable visual identity make it a great gift for cat fans and a charming conversation piece on the shelf.
In July 2023, we crossed the Swiss Alps on foot for a full week just one backpack each, and the occasional local train. Somewhere between lakes, mountain passes, and glaciers, a silly idea turned into a real game.
During that trek from Miralago to the Morteratsch glacier at 2,500 meters, we kept inventing cats, characters, and absurd effects with the cards to entertain ourselves along the way. The funniest part? We had nothing to write with. So we sent each other voice notes on WhatsApp every time we had a new rule, a new cat, or a better twist. After three days, my phone's memory was practically full of cats!
Three years have passed since then, and here we are, hoping that an independent card game designed for cat lovers might become a reality.
Gattara is not available to buy yet. The game will only be produced if the Back Gattara on Kickstarter is successfully funded, thanks to backers who support the project. Join the waitlist to be notified as soon as it launches.
Gattara sits in the middle: it is quick, playful and easy to teach like a party-friendly card game, but it also rewards timing, target choice, bluffing and hand management.
Gattara is designed for 2 to 6 players. It works well with 2, but it becomes even more lively with 4 to 6 players thanks to more table talk, reactions and sudden reversals.
Most games last around 10 to 20 minutes, making Gattara a great filler, warm-up game or quick game night favourite.
Yes. Setup is fast, turns are simple and the cards are designed to be self-explanatory. Most groups can learn the flow in just a few minutes.
Gattara combines a cat theme with hidden scoring, multi-level cat tokens, direct interaction, Meow reaction cards and fast turns. You are not just collecting the most tokens: you are racing to reach the target score first.
Not all cats are worth the same. Gattara includes three cat token tiers: Stray Cats worth 1 point, Pedigree Cats worth 2 points and Show Cats worth 3 points. This makes every steal, defense and target choice more meaningful.
Meow cards are special reaction cards. They can cancel an attack played against you and redirect the effect onto another player, creating dramatic reversals and chain reactions.
Yes. Gattara is easy to teach and quick to play, so it works well for families, casual groups and cat lovers who want something interactive without a heavy rules load.
Gattara includes 52 cards, 80 cat tokens, 6 player screens and a compact box with the core components needed to play.
Gattara is currently planned in English only.
